Swiss Re sees $500 mln Chile hit

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Swiss Re [s:ch:rukn] said it provisionally estimates that it will lose $500 million before tax from the Chile earthquake, and that the insurance sector as a whole will lose between $4 billion and $7 billion. The winter storm Xynthia will result in a $100 million pretax hit, Swiss Re added.
