Toyota had previously issued a recall on 2004-09 Prius models for floor mats that could trap the vehicle's gas pedal, but reports said the San Diego incident may have stemmed from a different acceleration problem. Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that the total costs for Toyota's various recalls issued in the past few months could total more than $5 billion in 2010. Shares of Toyota closed down 1.4% in Tokyo trade Wednesday, following the reports.
